Beaded Braids

In this lesson you will learn to braid the 7 strand English braid often called 'fill the gap'.

How long does it take to make this?
This two hour session is a great introduction to beading the 7 strand braid.  Whilst you will not complete your braid during the session you will learn and gain confidence enough to finish your project at home.

​You can learn this technique in one session, extend the session to a half day so you can finish your project or combine this with another session to make a half day.

Do I need to know anything before tackling this session?
Yes, we recommend that you complete the Simple Braid session first so that you are familiar with using the kumihimo braiding disk and the basics of braiding

What will I learn?
This lesson teaches the following:

• How to set your disk up to braid with 7 strands
• How to thread beads onto cords
• Adding beads to braids

How much will this cost me?

• This second lesson costs £2.50 for the tuition.

What do I get for my money?
You may bring your own beads or purchase supplies at the session

• 7 Wives of St Ives kits are available to purchase at the session for £9 or £11 depending on beads (normal price £10 and £12)
• Extra disks are available at £1 (normal price £1.50)
• A variety of fittings are available to purchase if needed.
• Glue, scissors, tape measures, pliers etc are all provided to use when on our courses.
• For sessions held at our main venue we even provide the teas and coffees.

What if I want to make more?

• Specialist beads packs and mixed bead packs are also available to purchase at the sessions
